Our achievements
In order to prevent anti-consumer-rights activities and expand consumer-rights protection activities nationwide, consumer-rights protection committees have been formed in all unions of Gopalganj district according to Section 10 of the Consumer-Rights Protection Act, 2009 and according to the regulations 2013 in all upazilas and all unions consumer- A rights protection committee has been formed. About 9,000 (nine thousand) leaflets, calendars and pamphlets have been distributed to create public awareness.
Also, awareness meetings have been organized in various educational institutions, training centers, business associations and various markets. Under the Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009 till 30th April 2024, the mobile team of Gopalganj district office of the Directorate has imposed and collected about 29,96,425/-(Thirty Nine Lakhs Ninety Thousand Four Hundred). A total of 24 complainants were paid approximately Rs.15,000/- (Fifteen Thousand) as 25% of the penalty levied under Section 76(4) of the Consumer-Rights Protection Act, 2009.
Seminars have been organized in all upazilas under Gopalganj district office and World Consumer Rights Day has been celebrated at district and upazila levels. A complaint box has been set up in the district office to receive consumer complaints. Already consumers are easily filing complaints through e-mail. Gopalganj district and every upazila of the district celebrated World Consumer Rights Day on March 15, 2024.
